Since
2002, Khom Loy Development
Foundation (KLDF) has been working with the ethnic minorities
living in the hills along the border of Thailand and Burma. Many of
the over 500,000 rural villagers have been left stateless due to their
migration south, and are therefore unable to gain employment.
Izara Arts
is a KLDF income generation
project based on fair trade principles.
Our mission is to provide hilltribe women with a sustainable livelihood through the
design and production of handicrafts. All profits from the venture are used to
fund further community building programs. What
distinguishes Izara Arts is the way in which the
cultural heritages of different tribes have been combined to create products which are
striking as well as unique -- make sure to read about our artisan partners, and the techniques that go into each piece.
We hope you will find a few moments to browse
through our collection of handwoven silk scarves,
yoga bags
, masks , pet collars , eco-friendly shopping bags, and custom designs.
